If you’re like me, you want a nice place to chuck a stick for your furry friend to chase into the water in the summer.  In this video, Vito the Wonder Dog has made a list of the 3 dog beaches on Kalmalaka and Okanagan Lakes so that you too can know how to find these wonderful places. 

The first stop is Kal Lake. On Kalamalka Lake you'll find the dog beach in Kalamalka Provincial Park between Cosens Bay and Juniper Bay. These two beaches are connected by a pathway with the dog beach right in the middle. On a warm day, you'll find lots of dogs playing on the stony beach. The stones are small and get larger the deeper you go into the water. Bring water shoes if you want to swim with your four-legged friend. Park in the lot at the end of Kidston Road (Jade & Juniper), after that it's a 10-minute walk to the pet beach.

Now moving over to Okanagan Lake, your first stop will be the relatively newly developed Hurlburt Park.  Part of this park is on-leash only, and if you’re going to utilize the picnic tables etc. however if you go beyond the dock to the south, you will find an off-leash beach area for your dog to run around at will.

If that area is a bit too small for you, then continue on Eastside Road to Ellison Provincial Park. Your dog will love Sandy Beach where you can both cool off and play in the water. Get there by taking the trail leading out of the Ellison Park campground between sites 11 and 12. This is really helpful info because there are no signs to lead you there. 

Also on Okanagan Lake, Kin Beach is testing a pilot project with a new on-leash dog beach until October of 2021 so not sure if that will continue and Lakeshore Park also allows dogs on leash.
