FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Realtors® Give Pumpkins and Promises to Fire Victims
Spallumcheen, British Columbia (October 2, 2021) – The Realtors® at RE/MAX Vernon Salt Fowler® once gain held their annual Pumpkin-Fest pumpkin picking and charity event at the Pumpkin Patch on St. Annes Road. In addition to providing Tim Horton’s hot chocolate and coffee, treats for the kids and and coupons for free pumpkins, RE/MAX Vernon Salt Fowler provided hope by raising $500 in matched donations for the Red Cross for assistance to those affected by the White Rock Lake fires.
“This year was a bit slower, which we understand given the weather didn’t cooperate as much as it usually does, and with Covid-19, etc. However with our group matching every donation dollar for dollar, we are happy with the results.” says Gord Fowler, co-founder of RE/MAX Vernon Salt Fowler. The group personally prepared and served over 100 treats for kids plus coffee and hot chocolate to their past and current clients, as well as other visitors to the Pumpkin Patch on that day, indicative of their commitment to personalized service in business as well as in charity.
Kelly Ackeral who has supported the event for years says: “RE/MAX Salt Fowler day at the Pumpkin Patch isnot only family fun, but a real day of community connection.”
Salt Fowler has a history of giving back to their clients and to the community. In the past, they have provided their clients with tickets to the Vernon Vipers hockey games and admission to the Waterslide Park. The Salt Fowler Realtors® take care of their clients long after their business transactions have closed. In fact, a portion of each sale is reserved for charity and distributed at the end of the year to Hospice House and /or to local clients that have fallen on hard times. Lisa Salt states: “This year, in addition to the donations made at this event, a substantial portion of our charity funds is earmarked for supporting the victims of the White Rock Lake fires.” Salt Fowler members exemplify the spirit of giving by filling their personal and business lives with service. This year local Tim Horton’s and Tillicum Electric participated in Pumpkin Fest with contributions to support this annual local event.
All eligible donations to the 2021 British Columbia Fires appeal will be matched by the Government of Canada (until August 10) and the Government of British Columbia (until December 31). Donations to the Canadian Red Cross will be used for immediate and ongoing relief efforts, long term recovery, resiliency and preparedness for future events in British Columbia and impacted regions, including consequential events related to the fires.
