As the leaves change and the air gets crisper, October brings with it a sense of excitement and anticipation for the fall season. In the picturesque North Okanagan, the month of October is teeming with thrilling events that promise fun and scares for everyone. Today, I'm thrilled to share my top three picks for must-attend events in the region.
Pumpkin Patch Extravaganza
Opening its gates on October 1 and running until the end of the month, the Pumpkin Patch at 642 St. Anne's Road is a festive delight for all ages. This patch isn't just about pumpkins; it's a community hub for various activities. I personally look forward to our annual client appreciation and charity event held on the opening day from 11 AM to 2 PM. Picture hot dogs, goodies, face painting, and the warmth of community spirit. If you can't make it that day, the patch is open daily for self-serve pumpkin picking, gourd selecting, and more. The reasonable prices make it a joyous experience for everyone, and it's undoubtedly the happiest place in the North Okanagan during October.
O'Keefe Ranch Field of Screams
For those seeking a spine-chilling experience, look no further than O'Keefe Ranch's Field of Screams. Located at 93, 80, 97 North, this annual event, now in its 10th year, boasts the title of the scariest corn maze in the Okanagan. With maze names like Phobia Frenzy, House of Sins, Game of Screams, and Scarecrow's Revenge, you're in for a frightful treat. While I've yet to experience it myself, this year marks my commitment to brave the scare and immerse myself in the spooky atmosphere. Note that this event isn't suitable for very young children, so consider leaving them with a sitter for the evening.
Kids' Delight – O'Keefe Ranch Corn Maze
If you're looking for a more family-friendly adventure, the O'Keefe Ranch Corn Maze is the perfect destination. Open on weekends (Friday through Sunday) from 10 AM to 4 PM, kids can enjoy wagon rides, explore the pumpkin patch, and engage in various fun activities. The highlight? Meeting and greeting some friendly goats, which I must confess would be my personal favorite. It's a wholesome and delightful event for families to celebrate the season together.
As we transition into the fall season in the Okanagan, these October events offer a perfect blend of excitement, scares, and family fun. Whether you're navigating a spooky maze or enjoying a cozy day at the pumpkin patch, I wish you and your family a fantastic and Happy Halloween!
