Today, Kelowna has surpassed Vernon in population, but Vernon remains an important cultural and economic center in the region.

With a land area of 95.76 km², Vernon has a population density of 461.7 per square kilometer, according to Wikipedia. Coldstream, on the other hand, has a land area of 66.57 km² but a population density of only 167.8 per square kilometer. This means that Vernon is much more densely populated than Coldstream.
